LANDSCAPES & PERMACULTURE
how i work...
Based in West Cork and through demand over the past 15 years, I have developed large installations in Ireland, Germany, France and the UK, at Garden Shows, Festivals and exhibitions, in both public spaces and private properties - The work ranges from small scale, intimate garden creations to permanent landscape projects, the resounding themes in all of the creations being the crossover of aesthetics, functionality, and sustainable design. The designs embrace the creation of calming and therapeutic sculpture garden spaces with a message of respect for the natural environment.
I create spaces that not only embrace the ethics and practice of permaculture, through energy efficiency, sustainability and function, but also educational spaces and a place where people can relax and recharge amongst the flowing organic designs of plant life and sculpture.
I will design and lead the construction of installations, creating gardens and sculpture according to individual tastes and settings.

The stages of the design process are:
-
Site assessment, looking at topography the flora and fauna and climatic conditions, the soils and resources, as well as the site in a historical context to the local area
-
A questionnaire for the client to assess the needs, functions, aesthetics and hopes for the design
-
Visualisation - sketches of ideas to discuss with the client
-
Impression - Drawing of a final idea
